Heads of the construction industry, railways and politicians present and discuss the NRLA plans at the Muba trade fair in Basel. The Alps come to the big city. (1993, Keystone)

In 1993, six months after the electorate and cantons voted for the NRLA, the special exhibition «AlpTransit - Building for Europe» opens in Basel. The chairman of the construction industry federation and the building contractors' association, the head of construction at the SBB and the President of the National Council take the opportunity to set out their expectations. They link the issue of transport to the question of Switzerland's future integration into Europe. The NRLA is now a European project as well.

« We will not be satisfied with the crumbs that fall from the master's table. »
